Asymptotically optimal block-based transceivers with reduced redundancy

We present the structure of a transceiver for a frequency selective channel that allows the introduction of reduced redundancy. The problem of finding the transceiver that optimizesthe information rate is a difficult non-linear optimization problem. For that reason we present a simple algorithmic procedure in order to obtain suboptimal solutions. We also show that the structure proposed approaches capacity when the data block length gets large. We present simulation results that show that the proposed design outperforms other existing ones in the literature.
