Resumen:
Impact resistance constitutes one of the most popularquality control tools for polymeric materials andplastic finished parts. There are a number of standardimpact test methods devoted to evaluate theimpact response of polymeric materials (e.g., tensile-impact, Charpy and Izod tests, falling weight,Gardner, etc.). Nevertheless, to the questions: whichtest to use? how the different toughness measurementsare related between each other? straightforwardanswers cannot be given. The shortcomingsof standardized impact tests were recognized longago: these tests are unable to generate an ?actualmaterial property?.Fracture mechanics experts
