Resumen:
Heading date is an important trait in wheat breeding as it affectsadaptation, quality and yield potential. Selection for plant height and theintroduction of semi-dwarfing alleles have been proven to be effective forwheat yield improvement. Phenotypic variation in heading or floweringdate is controlled by the allelic combination of three groups of genes witheffect on vernalization requirements (Vrn), photoperiod response (Ppd) andearliness per se (Eps). Major plant height locus in wheat is Rht-1. The aim ofthis work was to analyze the allelic variation in three major genes (Rht-B1,Ppd-A1 and Vrn-A1) and its phenotypic effects as a initial framework todiscover new yield-related genes through association mapping in a durumwheat collection (Triticum turgidum L. var durum).
