Resumen:
Plants are sessile organisms that have evolved adaptation mechanisms to environmental changes during evolution. Transcription factors (TF) are key proteins articulating environment perception and cellular responses. The combination of a homeodomain with a leucine zipper motif (HD-Zip) is exclusive to streptophytes and has led to the appearance of a widely distributed TF family in plants [1]. We found that class I HD-Zips (C1HDZ) are implicated in drought tolerance responses, in part, because they regulate common target genes [2], which in Arabidopsis are 17. Here, we present evidence supporting the study case of class I HD-Zip to test the evolutionary changes associated with the transition of plants to land.
