Resumen:
Massive high-throughput sequencing techniques allowedthe identification of thousands of noncodingRNAs (ncRNAs) and a plethora of different mRNAprocessing events occurring in higher organisms.Long ncRNAs can act directly as long transcriptsor can be processed into active small si/miRNAs.They can modulate mRNA cleavage, translational repressionor the epigenetic landscape of their targetgenes. Recently, certain long ncRNAs have beenshown to play a crucial role in the regulation of alternativesplicing in response to several stimuli or duringdisease. In this review, we focus on recent discoverieslinking gene regulation by alternative splicingand its modulation by long and small ncRNAs.
