Resumen:
The Carboniferous glaciations in Gondwanaland were related to different processes. However, the uplift over the paleo equilibrium-line altitude, where glaciers can preserve, is considered the most plausible explanation. On the base on the comparison between estimations of different paleoelevations, we propose that the glaciated high elevations of SW Gondwana were overcompensated by sublithospheric forces (mantle upwelling).
