Resumen:
Temporal modulation of lighting still at frequencies higher than the
critical fusion frequency can affect visual efficiency of sensitive
individuals. A simple visual search task (that we developed in
previous researches) and a conventional discrimination task were used
to assess the effect and to compare results. We assessed visual
performance of young individuals carrying out these visual tasks in
laboratory conditions, using fluorescent lighting devices, which
produced light with low (3%) and high (32%) temporal modulation.
In the proposed visual search task, where errors were not allowed,
only time was used to assess visual efficiency. In this case low
modulation condition task-time resulted significantly lower than high
modulation condition task-time (F(1,10)= 6.872 and p<0.02553).
Largest relative differences between the two experimental conditions
and better discrimination against subjects were obtained for the new
test, suggesting that it could be useful to detect individuals sensibility
to temporal modulation of light.F(1,10)= 6.872 and p<0.02553).
