Resumen:
A recent increase in B. pertussis isolates lacking pertactin protein (PRN), an acellular vaccine immunogen, has been reported. This situation was particularly observed in countries using only acellular formulations intheir Immunization calendars. Either IS481 sequence insertion (at position 1595 or 1613) or a deletion inthe signal sequence in prn gene were the prevalent mutations responsible for detracting deficiency. Wehere determine whether pertactin-deficient (PRN-) B. pertussis isolates are also present in the whole cellvaccinated Argentinean population.
