Resumen:
A series of new semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones were synthesized from different aryl ketones.   All compounds were tested for their in vitro anticancer properties against two cell lines CT26 (murine melamome) and B26 (murine colon cancer). The cytotoxic effects were investigated by means of May-Grunwald-Giemsa tinction (MGG) and tetrazolium salt assay (MTT). Apoptosis was detected by acridine orange / ethidium bromide (AO/EB) and it was confirmed by RT PCR evaluating the expressions of bcl-2 and BAX genes. Semi- and thiosemicarbazones showed high activity compared to the corresponding ketones.  Flouroketones derivatives were the most actives.
