Resumen:
The aim of this work is to study the viability of the mineral ilmenite as catalyst in a CWPO-Photoassisted process under Vis-LED light for the removal of phenolic compounds in water. Natural ilmenite, which contents a mixture of Fe(III) and Fe(II) in its surface, was treated with H2 in order to modified its iron surface oxidation state: first as Fe(II) and second as Fe(0). A comparative study based on phenol oxidation and TOC removal rates of the three catalysts was performed. The best result was obtained using the most reduced ilmenite as catalyst.
