Resumen:
In the last years it has become special attention to the allelopatic phenomenon, since the structures of these allelochemical can be the starting point of new herbicides. Allelopathy is characteristic of certain plants and allelopathic interactions are an important factor in determining species distribution and abundance within plant communities, and are also thought to be important in the success of many invasive plants In this work we have been carried out the evaluation of alellopathic activity of H. subaxillaris as a potential bioherbicide. We used a growth  bioassay of roots, stems and leaves from  lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) to determine effects of extracts and chromatographic fractions. The hexanic extract was fragmented for chromatographic flash into three fraction (I: hexane,II: hexane: AcOEt 1%, III: hexane:AcOEt 5%) The most interesting results were observed using the hexanic extract which reduced the long of the roots and  stems. The fractions I and III revealed a significant inhibitory effect on the roots and  stems .These results suggest that the H. subaxillaris extracts might be considered a potential bioherbicide
