Resumen:
Faithful replication of DNA molecules with the intervention of DNA polymerases and topoisomerases is very important for genome integrity and precise transmission of genetic material in all living creatures. For this reason, DNA polymerases and topoisomerases have appeared as significant cellular objectives for chemical mediation in the development of anti-cancer drugs. Herein we show the semi-synthesis of resveratrol derivatives and similar compounds and their biological action against Taq DNA polymerase and topoisomerases. Compound 4 was the most active against both enzymes with IC50 values equal to 18.56 and 28.37 microM, respectively. Additionally, compounds 3 and 5 revealed remarkable action against Taq DNA polymerase with IC50 values equal to 76.89 and 71.65 microM, respectively. These effects may suggest that these enzymes are the molecular targets involved in their bioactivity and enhance the resveratrol derivatives and similar compounds as head molecule to develop new medications for cancer treatment.
