Resumen:
Abstract. Linear diterpenes isolated from aerial parts of Baccharis thymifolia Hook & Arn. (1-3) were tested for insect growth inhibitory activities against Tenebrio molitor L. larvae. Compounds 4-16 were prepared by several chemical transformations including double bonds asymmetric oxidations at the polyene chain. The most interesting results were attributed to the diterpenes 6,10-(E,E)-thymifodioic acid (1), 6,10-(E,E)-thymifodioic acid butenolide (3) and to the derivatives 4, 11, and 14. These compounds produced several development deficiencies in assays of topication on the fifth instar larvae. Compound 3 is a new alicyclic diterpene.
