We deal with some recent results about best approximation operator in an Orlicz set up.Some maximal inequalities are considered which allow us to get pointwise and modularconvergence. Beside, as a motivation, we show how Orlicz spaces are involved tocharacterize projection operators even if we start in Lp spaces.
