Su DOI es: 10.1109/LDNP.2011.6162073 An evolution equation for an electromagnetic wave, similar to the Nonlinear Schr¨odinger equation, is derived for a Gaussian beam propagating in a Kerr media. The field along the propagation direction is taken into account. Some terms usually neglected for plane waves are considered in this case. A discussion about the effects of the new terms and the generality of this results is made.
