Resumen:
The melanocortin system includes the melanocortins, their receptors and two endogenousantagonists. This system is involved in several physiological processes in the brain.Melanocortins have potent anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects in the centralnervous system (CNS). Therefore, they are suitable candidates for the treatment ofinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders of the brain.
