Resumen:
Dynamic studies of actual power systems (PS) are increasingly being required nowadays in order to determine the technical and financial feasibility of application of new equipment for enhancing PS controllability. In these cases, the solution usually tends to be power systems dynamics simulation software in order to validate the proposed modeling and control approaches. In many actual PS studies there exists the need of high accuracy for phenomena of interest higher than 10 Hz as well on an instantaneous sense. However, detailed modeling with power electronics components becomes impossible mostly because of the complexity of the PS. Based on these considerations, this article proposes an accurate simplified mathematical model of a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) with superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) for using in multimachine PS simulators, valid both for the subtransient and dynamics domain. The precision of the proposed simplified models is analyzed on a test system by contrasting them to detailed models.
