Resumen:
This paper discusses a novel control scheme of a three-phase grid-connected wind energy conversion system. The control incorporates a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) for optimal use of the wind resource. In addition, reactive power compensation of the electric grid is included, operating simultaneously and independently of the active power generation. The wind turbine generator (WTG) consists of a variable speed wind turbine and the MPPT is implemented via a DC-DC boost converter. A multi-level voltage source inverter (VSI) is used as interface with the AC power grid.  Validation of models and control algorithms is performed by using MATLAB/Simulink environment.
