Resumen:
This publication presents the results of an interdisciplinary work of fifty-one scholars from a variety of disciplines and countries (Canada, USA, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil) that met in Panama city from June 14 to 25 to discuss on how to improve the way we understand the connection between climate change and hazards in the Americas. The objective of this work was to bridge gaps among diverse disciplinary fields as well as the national contexts. The results are presented in the form of a set of research directions and opportunities, including: (a) Featured disciplinary contributions and priority reserach questions in the geographical dimension of climate change and hazards research, (b) Featured disciplinary contributions and priority reserach questions on communication of climate change and hazards, (c) Contributions to integrated climate change and hazards research from applied sociology, engineering, regional management and urban planning sciences, and (d) Interdisciplinary connections: highlighted synergistic domains for integration research on climate change and hazards. /// ISBN 0-615-40833-0.
