Resumen:
This paper delves on the consolidation of the social sciences in the 1960s and its regional nature, given the fact that it was based in a simultaneous process of "Latin-Americanization" of research and teaching and "nationalization" of material resources for institutional development. A new type of academic prestige emerged, in the midst of powerful international forces such as public and private foreign aid, foreign scientific missions, etc.The paper analyzes the construction of this peripheral form of academic prestige from its initially institutionalized building until the extension of a particular type of recognition that marked the academic field in the mid 1960s: militant-academic capital.
