Resumen:
The Middle-range societies between the intensive producer and the hunter-gatherer groups in Argentina are a field of study that has receipt more attention. We present here a study case in peripherical locations of Andean area in Valle Fértil, San Juan. Two methodological approaches and their interrelationships are used from both archaeological and modern samples: isotopic ratios of human and faunal remains (12C/13C and 14N/15N) and osteometrical data of camelids. We discuss about the consumption of C3 and C4 plants -mainly the importance of maize- and the camelid handling. Finally, we make extra-area comparations in a macro-regional scale.
