SIRGAS-CON-D and Local Processing Centers, a solution for the densification of the Reference Frame in Latin America and the Caribbean

The SIRGAS-CON network is the ITRF densification in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the last years, the number of the stations of this network has been rapidly increasing creating the need of modifying its structure. During The SIRGAS 2008 General Meeting, in May 2008, two hierarchical levels were defined: a core network (SIRGAS-CON-C) and a densification network (SIRGAS-CON-D). The first one is processed by Deutsches Geodätisches Forschungsinstitut (DGFI, Germany) as the IGS RNAAC SIR. The second one, subdivided in three parts with common stations, is processed by three Local Processing Centres: Instituto Geográfico Augustín Codazzi (IGAC, Colombia), Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estádistica (IBGE, Brazil), and Instituto de Geodesia y Geodinámica of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (CIMA, Argentina). This contribution reports the processing methodology used by CIMA and presents the first results obtained by this Centre, whose reliability is assessed by means of comparison with other solutions reported to SIRGAS.
