Resumen:
The city of Mendoza in Argentina it is located near the piedemont area, which extends between the urbanized area and the Precordillera. The growth of population of Mendoza city in the last decades has caused a strong pressure on the ecosystem that has triggered serious environmental problems. Principally the decrease of vegetation coverage by cutting down bushes, fire garbage. This causes an increase in water erosion, decreased infiltration, and increase risk flooding of the city. An experimental alluvial basin was constructed in order to study the mechanism of the ecosystem and to try low cost technologies to solve the problem of floods.
