Background: At different ages, there are changes in morphological, physiological and environmental conditions. However, is still uncertain how these developmental 5 aspects are accompanied by changes in growth sensitivity to biophysical drivers. Aim: We analyze age-related climate-growth relationships in Araucaria araucana trees to explain responses of old forests to climate over different stages of tree life. Methods: 215 tree-ring series from four sites in northwestern Patagonia, Argentina, were 10 grouped into three age classes for chronology construction to describe age-dependent climate-growth signals using correlation models.
