Resumen:
The antioxidant response of wheat was analyzedin plants exposed to three different heavy metals. Wheat plants 45 days-oldwere exposed to Al, As and Cd in soil under two stress condition: Al: 60 mg kg-1soil at pH 7 and 60 mg kg-1 soil at pH 4; Cd: 10 mg kg-1 soilat pH 7 and 33 mg kg-1 soil at pH 7; As: 10 mg kg-1 soilat pH 7 and 50 mg kg-1 soil at pH 7. Ten days after heavy metalexposition, aerial parts were collected and the following measures were made: lipidperoxidation, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and guaiacol peroxidase and dryweight. The obtained data matrix was analyzed by principal components analysis (PCA)showing the following responses: increasing of ascorbate peroxidase activitydue to Al stress; increasing of catalase activity due to As stress and increasingof guaiacol peroxidase activity due to Cd stress. PCA was an effective chemometrictool to elucidate the antioxidant mechanisms as response to different metals exposures.
