Resumen:
Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology(AKST) has contributed to substantial increases in agriculturalproduction over time, contributing to foodsecurity. This has been achieved primarily through a strongfocus on increasing yields with improved germplasm, andincreased inputs (water, agrochemicals) and mechanization. These increases in productivity have contributed to a net increasein global food availability per person: from 2360 kcalin the 1960s to 2803 kcal per person per day in the 1990s,at a time when world population significantly increased.
