Resumen:
Hydrogen sulfide(H2S) is a new gasotransmitter involved in several processes in plants. It is endogenouslyproduced in part, by the cytosolic enzyme L-cysteine desulfhydrase 1 (DES1) which degradesL-cysteineintoH2S, piruvate and ammonia. It is known that participates actively during stomatal closure induced by different stimuli.Stomata are pores surrounded by a pair of cells, guardcells, through which plants regulate the gaseous exchange with the environment and the loss of water byevapotranspiration. Beside carbon uptake and waterhomeostasis stomatal movement is also for plant defense since pathogen can enter into the plant throughthe stomatal pore.In our lab we demonstrated that, in A. thaliana, H2Sand DES1 participatein bacterialelicitor flg22-inducedstomatalclosure.Thissignaling networkincludesothercomponents like NADPH oxidase RBOHD and phosholipase C2 (PLC2).In the current work we try to elucidate the role of H2Sin flg22-induced stomatalclosure. We made useof wildtype Arabidopsis plants to evaluate the expression ofpathogen-response genesspecifically in the guard cellsupon H2S donor treatments and DES1expression in response to flg22 treatment. Furthermore we analyzedMAPK activity in response to flg22 and Pst DC3000hrcC- infection in Arabidopsis des1 mutant plants
