Auxin is a critical phytohormone for plant growth and development. Nowadays, auxins are emerging as regulators of acclimation during environmental stresses. In this work, we demonstrated that a Germin-like Protein (GLP) with superoxide dismutase SOD-associated activity is down-regulated by exogenous auxin applications in wheat (Triticum aestivum) leaves. In addition, the interference of the auxin-signalling pathway through genetic mutation of TIR/AFBs enhances tolerance to salinity in Arabidopsis. We measured a higher germination rate in double mutants, tir1/afb1, tir1/afb2 and tir1/afb3 suggesting that auxin signaling is a player connecting stress signal and germination. Furthermore, these findings might have implications for enhancing agricultural productivity in salted soils.
