Resumen:
Etiolated Arabidopsisthaliana seedlingsgerminatedinthepresenceofreducingbufferssuchasreduced gluthathione(GSH)anddithiothreitol(DTT)havealteredmorphology.GSHandDTTinhibitedhypocotyl elongationinadose-dependentmanner.TheGSH-mediatedeffectwaspreventedbythesimultaneous additionofextracellularATP(eATP).NADPHoxidase(NOX)activityandendogenousnitricoxide(NO) generationwererequiredtomediateeATPactiononthehypocotylelongation.Acorrelationwas observedbetweenhypocotyllength,eATPconcentrationandNOproduction.TheactionofeATPandNO on superoxide(O2d) accumulationandperoxidaseactivitywasinvestigated.TheO2d distributionwas regulatedbyeATPandNOduringhypocotylelongation.Ourdatasuggestthatafinelytunedbalance of redoxstatusandoptimallevelsofATPandNOareessentialtoregulatethehypocotylelongationin the dark.
