Resumen:
Regional migratory flows to Argentina have increased steadily in the last few decades (Benencia, 1997; Bologna, 2007). These movements relate to changes ranging from the pioneers´ tentative movements, to the increase of the potentially migrant population in the countries of origin. In this process, access to the job market is restricted to specific sectors, and the newly settled community facilitates the establishment of new arrivals: it provides information, strategies for economic insertion and help with accommodation.  This paper analyses the break in the Peruvian process of migration into Córdoba city (Argentina). The dichotomous classification, as proposed by CEPAL (2004), between earlier and more recent migrants, is used. By using data collected from a survey at the destination country, demographic, educational and work features of both groups of migrants are compared. Political and economic factors had a major impact on the history of the migratory movement. Before the 90s, Peruvian migrants to Córdoba belonged to upper-middle class families and were lured by the university. For them, migrating meant securing or raising their social position. In contrast, new migrants usually settle in the least dynamic economic sectors, perform unskilled jobs, and are helped by support (horizontal) or labor recruiting (vertical) networks.  This movement is strongly related to the internal migrations inside Peru. The movements from the hills to the cities - due to the violence existing at the moment - constitute a previous step towards the international migration to Argentina.  Describe the role of social networks and structural factors in the evolution of migratory flows. Show the link between internal and international migration in the case of Peruvian migration to Córdoba. The research is in the stage of data analysis. They have been collected by a survey conducted in Córdoba
