Resumen:
The presence of Aedes aegypti in urban areas represents a sanitary threat due to the denge transmitting capability of this mosquito. The domestic infestation level was studied in 69 neigboring premises near Ae. Aegypti previously detected breeding focus in San Martin, Buenos Aires Province. This was done by the peridomestic detection of larval or pupal stages. A survey was done to evaluate if the people associated mosquitoes with disease. Inmatures were found in 37% of the premises and 12.3% of the water holding containers. Only 30% of these containers were those with wide openings. The 58.7 Breteau index exceeds the WHO standars. Sanitary education and complementary measures to container elimination (like periodic renewal of water or safe covering) would be convenient to optimize the control of Ae. aegypti in the area.
