Resumen:
Abstract: Thousands of doses of anaesthesia to kill them? Debates over a denounce on the disappeared in Argentina In 1980, during the last military dictatorship in Argentina, Amnesty International published the testimonies of two people who had been detained-disappeared. The report denounced state responsibility in their captivity, torture, and the methods used to murder most of the disappeared. This article analyzes the continuities of this testimony, with respect to previous complaints and its impact, reflected in the debates that it sparked between human rights organizations, relatives of the disappeared and exiles in the political context marked by the sanction of the law of ?presumption of death? that considered the disappeared as dead, and the resistances of the complainants to admit their extermination. The article thus analyzes two important issues: how complainants learn about the disappearance system, and the dis-tance between knowledge and recognition of experiences of extreme violence. Keywords: Argentina, dictatorship, disappeared, survivors, denounces.
