Resumen:
Manufacturing and commercial companies spend large amount of money to manage and maintain inventories. Much of those costs are caused by a partial or total loss of the items value when they are stored for long periods of time. This paper presents an analysis about the dynamics of an inventory model for damageable items, assuming constant demand and lead-time. Although this model is nonlinear, with the qualitative theory of differential equations has been possible to rigorously describe its general properties with no need of nu-merical methods. Additionally, some practical criteria have been obtained in order to set up a proper supply policy. A selling strategy has been proposed to prevent stock levels reach zero. Finally, the periodic and stochastic behaviors of the demand have been studied by simulation.
