This chapter describes the diaries of the Argentine writer and journalist Roberto J. Payró, written during the early months of the German occupation of Brussels (August 1914-February 1915), and published in the Buenos Aires newspaper La Nación, which documents the distressing atmosphere that surrounded the invasion and occupation of Belgium by the German army.
