Mycologists usually borrow models ortheoretical frameworks from other ecologicaldisciplines to test them in fungal ecology. Forexample, using models from plant and animalecology, some attempts intended to classifyfungi according to life-history strategies, orfunctional groups and guilds (Pugh 1980;Urcelay and Robledo 2004; Zanne et al. 2019).In this way, species composition in acommunity is simplified to a few groups orguilds of species sharing similar traits fromwhich we can make some predictions aboutnature functioning.
