Resumen:
Paso de la Piedras Reservoir is alluvial plain dam with a surface of 40 km2 and maximum depth of 35 m located on the Sauce Grande River basin. The system provides water to the populations of Bahía Blanca and Punta Alta cities located more than 100 km from the dam and they are outside the basin. Water volume in the reservoir have large fluctuations depending on the rainfall conditions at the Sierra de la Ventana hill system and strongly influenced by the ENSO events. Last two years the reservoir is at full capacity. During low levels it is common the presence of cyanobacteria blooms, which affects the filter systems at the water treatment plant and seriously degrades water quality to the population. A buoy designed and built by IADO was moored in April 2016 at near the deepest point on the reservoir (38.421616 °S, 61.755766 °W). This is the first ever sensor buoy moored at a reservoir in Argentina and the first buoy in a deep lake (all other buoys were moored in shallow lakes d
