Resumen:
The presence of submarine outcrops in the outer Bahia BlancaEstuary is analyzed. Two different types of strata were recognized. Deeperstrata (-15 m), with scarps of the order of 2 m, are composed of highlycompacted or lithified sediments from the Chasic6 Formation (Pliocene).Superimposed, thin strata have a nearly horizontal position and highpercentages of mud. They exhibit a certain degree of compaction and showerosive scarps of the order of 0.8 m in height. These fine-stratified layers arerelated to ancient intertidal flat deposits, probably formed during theHolocene transgressive cycle. Based on the present information and that ofother authors, a tentative sea level variation curve for the area and the last8000 yrs is proposed.
