Al 6063T6 Processed by equal channel angular drawing (ECAD): Microstructural and Mechanical Evolution

Resumen:
An Aluminium alloy 6063T6 in the form of a sheet of 3mm thickness and 38mm width was processed at room temperature by ECAD up to a maximum equivalent strain of 1,86 (i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 ECAD passes) following route C. The microstructure evolution was investigated by EBSD, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The texture evolution shown a predominance of a recrystallized texture (a strong cube component) which decreases in intensity with the amount of plastic deformation. Different microstructural characteristics as the grain size, mean disorientation and High Angle Grain Boundaries (HAGB) fraction were calculated. The evolution of those microstructural characteristics showed a high dependency with the amount of deformation. Mechanical tests like tensile and harndness were carriet out for the material at different deformations showing an increase in the material strength.
