Resumen:
Different species have been described in the genus Saccharomyces: S. cerevisiae, S. paradoxus, S. cariocanus, S. mikatae, S. arboricolus, S. kudriavzevii and S. bayanus. Natural hybrids have been found between S. cerevisiae and S. bayanus, some of them called S. pastorianus and S. kudriavzevii. Natural hybrids between S. cerevisiae × S. kudriavzevii have been described in wine, beer and cider, and recently in clinical and dietetic supplements. The aim of this work is to elucidate if the origin of these hybrids is unique or if it has occurred several times. For this work, we used a Phylogenetic Supernetwork reconstructed from seven neighbor-joining trees of seven partial sequences (MET6, CYR1, CYC3, BRE5, CAT8, EGT2 and GAL4), a neighbor-net phylogenetic network from the COX2 gene and a parsimony tree inferred from RFLPs and microarray data. These data support the Wine/European nature of the S. cerevisiae parental and European nature of the S. kudriavzevii parental.
