Resumen:
The caudal vertebrae of abelisaurid theropods are compared in detail. Notable trends invertebral morphology are apparent and illustrated for this group, particularly in the shape ofthe transverse process. Several differences are also noted among the members of this clade.Such differences in morphology may underlie attributes related to balance and/or locomotorfunction. This analysis is consistent with the hypothesis that South American abelisauridsevolved in isolation from those that inhabited India and Madagascar.
