Resumen:
The development of efficient adsorbents able to the treatment of groundwater is proposed. The design includes using of natural-green and low cost raw materials of easy availability to contribute to the solution of a real actual problem such as fluorine contamination in water for human consume. It is well known that the investigation of novel technologies to reach available water resources is increasing and the groundwater is in the focus. However, most of the studies are restricted to the model and centered in more (in appearance) dangerous pollutants (i.e. arsenic), misleading the impact of other species present in the matrix. In this contribution we have prepared nanocomposites based on natural zeolite and magnetite that was subsequently surface modified with aluminum and calcium cations. The goal is to confer specificity and functionality to these materials in order to be suitable for fluorine removal. Finally adsorption assays have been performed using model aqueous solutions as well as real groundwater samples to evaluate the performance of selected adsorbents
