Resumen:
This work reports the results of an experimental campaign aimed atanalyzing the mechanical performance of Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRCs)produced with both Recycled (R) steel fibers (for obtaining to the so-calledRecycled Fiber Reinforced Concrete, RFRC) derived from waste tires incombination with Industrial (I) steel fibers, leading to the so-called Hybrid-FRC.Particularly, six concrete mixtures with different amount of I/R steel fiberswere produced and tested mainly for investigating the key aspects of both cubicsamples tested in compression and pre-notched beam specimens tested infour-point bending. The results analyzed herein confirm the promisingapplication of concrete reinforced with RSFs obtainable from waste tire recycling;moreover, they clearly demonstrate that industrial fibers can certainly bereplaced by an equal amount of recycled ones without a significant decay in therelevant mechanical properties if the RSFs present adequate geometricalcharacteristics. This study, carried out at the STRuctural ENGineering TestingHall (STR.ENG.T.H) of the University of Salerno, stems out from the activities ofthe ??SUPERCONCRETE?? project (www.superconcrete-h2020.unisa.it), funded by theEuropean Union within the Horizon 2020 Programme (H2020-MSCA-RISE-2014 ? n.645704).
