Resumen:
In this work, the capabilities of a material model to describe and predict the degradation of concrete capacity andmechanical behavior due to temperature effects are presented. The predictions of the numerical model are compared withexperimental results of concrete subjected to different temperatures. The results in this work show the severe consequences of thelong term exposure to temperature of concrete main features such as strength and stiffness and, in this sense, it is also shown theeffect of this mechanical features degradation on the safety condition of the related structures. Moreover, the numerical resultsdemonstrate the accuracy and capacity of the mathematical model proposed by the Authors regarding concrete structure behaviorsubjected to combined action of temperature and mechanical loading.
