Resumen:
The Palaeoichnological Site of Pehuen Co, located on the southern coast of Buenos Aires province, Argentina, was discovered in 1986 and the first paper was published in 1987. Since then, new discoveries made in the following years have evidenced a high quality and diversity of Pleistocene mammal and bird footprints. Investigations in this site have continued to nowadays. The most important aim of the present paper is to revise the previous ichnotaxonomy assignations and some new discoveries made in the following years. The described tracks include eleven mammal (Neomegatherichnum pehuencoensis, Mylodontidichnum rosalensis, Glyptodonichnum pehuencoensis nov. ign and isp., Eumacrauchenichnus patachonicus, Proboscipeda australis nov. comb., Dolichotichnum marae nov. ign and isp., Ursichnus sudamericanus nov. isp., Hippipeda isp., Lamaichnum guanicoe, L. tulipensis nov.comb, Pecoripeda commune nov. comb.) and four bird icnotaxa (Phoenicopterichnum pehuencoensis, Charadriipeda isp., Gruipeda isp., Aramayoichnus rheae nov. ign and isp ). The second goal of this paper is to emphasize the worldwide significance Pehuen Co site within other Pleistocene vertebrate tracksites. Pehuen Co site is unique because of the quality of preservation, abundance and diversity of the footprints.
