Resumen:
We propose a mathematical model to describe the fluctuations of the acetylcholine receptor. To formulate the model, we assume that these fluctuations are determined by the motion of a kink or solitary wave that travels through a large number of intermediate states. We solve the model numerically, considering specifically the dependence of the opening and closing mechanisms with the neurotransmitter concentration. The model could help us to understand such processes as desensitization and the presence of non-competitive inhibitors.
