Resumen:
It is well-known that bioavailability and pharmacotechnics of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs)   used in solid dosage forms can be influenced by differences in the internal (polymorphism) and external (habit) structures. Nitazoxanide (NTZ) is a practically water-insoluble compound that exhibits a broad spectrum of activities against a wide variety of helminths, protozoa, and enteric bacteria infecting animals and humans. NTZ is commercially available as an oral suspension or as tablets.   The aims of this study were to characterize the solid state properties of NTZ and to obtain different crystalline habits of this API.
