Resumen:
The Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is a process of importance for the obtention of synthetic liquid fuels fromalternative sources to petroleum. Cobalt-supported catalysts are widely used industrially for this reaction. In this work, we focused on the study of the effect of the support ́s porosity on the Fischer-Tropschsynthesis catalyzed by cobalt. Thus, we selected carbon materials with differences in their pore size andgeometry (CMK-3, activated carbon and carbon nanotubes). The obtained supported cobalt materials werecharacterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programed reduction, X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy and N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The catalytic tests wereperformed at 2.0 MPa and 230 °C. Results showed differences in the activity and selectivity in the catalysts, which could be attributed to the porosity of the support. This behavior could be related to an influence ofthe support in the properties of the active phase, such as its particle size, as well as the porosity couldinfluence by an effect of confinement of reactants in the vicinity of the active phase.
