The most important applications and implementations of polycapillaries are described and the generalities of the manufacturing process are explained. Polycapillaries made in the local laboratory are shown. The manufacturing procedure is described along with the different apparatus used during the process. Several polycapillaries with different characteristics were studied and characterized in local lab using a conventional x-ray source and in the LNLS (Campinas, Brzil) using synchrotron radiation. These results are summarized. Some applications of selected polycapillaries are described and the most important results are presented. A very interesting application, such as dispersive diffraction in combination with XRF, is described in detail and some interesting results are shown.
