Resumen:
The pooled distribution of all opening weights in a Chess database follows a Zipf law with universal exponent, and when restricted to openings of a certain depth d, the popularities are distributed according to power law with an exponent that depends on d. In a previous work we showed that the opening moves of a chronologically ordered set of chess games exhibit long-range correlations, and that this long-range memory is related to the level of expertise of the players. Now we investigate a mechanism for the emergence of such long-range correlations analyzing a modified Yule-Simon preferential growth process proposed by Cattuto et al., which introduces memory effects by means of a probabilistic kernel.
