Resumen:
The high toxicity and widespread occurrence of arsenic have put forward a pressing need for efficient and selective analytic and remediation strategies. Electrochemical techniques have lot to offer in this field. Direct oxidation of As(III) to As(V) species at catalytically-active electrodes can be used for the detection of arsenic(III), especially to avoid the interferences observed with other metallic species. Moreover, electrochemical oxidation of As(III) combined with As(V) retention procedures have emerged as efficient strategies to remove arsenic from contaminated aqueous solutions.
